GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Welcome ot Aroldis Chapman Day.It's his first time facing a sort-of Major League team. While everyone else is searching or Chapman, I'm scouring the Royals dugout and area to see if George Brett's here. He throws BP to the Royals every day. I"m going to have to go up there at some point, just for my inner 5-year old. I've never actually met him or interviewed him. Yeah... it would be the one time I'd be intimidated.
Anyway, as for the Reds and Royals, once again, here are your lineups:
Royals
David DeJesus RF
Chris Getz SS
Billy Butler 1B
Rick Ankiel CF
Alberto Callaspo 2B
Josh Fields 3B
Brayan Pena C
Kila Ka'aihue DH
Brian Anderson LF
Brian Bannister RHP
Reds
Drew Stubbs CF
Orlando Cabrera SS
Joey Votto 1B
Brandon Phillips 2B
Scott Rolen 3B
Jay Bruce RF
Chris Dickerson C
Jonny Gomes DH
Bronson Arroyo RHP
* As for the "B" Game, the Brewers won 4-2, with some help from four Reds errors -- two by Miguel Cairo, one from Josh Anderson and one from Drew Sutton. Only one of the four runs Reds pitchers allowed were earned, that was the homer given up by Jordan Smith.
The other two runs were given up by Philippe Valiquette, who gave up one hit and a walk.
Heisey was 1-for-2, Alonso 0-4, Frazier 0-2, Valaika 0-2, Francisco 0-4, Mesoraco 1-1 with a HBP, Janish 2-2 with an RBI.
Bailey went 2 innings, 3Ks.
* Top 1: 3-up, 3-down for Arroyo with a K of Billy Butler. Redlegs 0, Royals 0
* Bottom 1: Nothing better than being stuck next to someone who hates baseball and complain about being here. It's going to be a long couple of days. The Royals' Josh Fields looks ready to play, as the Reds' first two batters ground out to him. And Billy Butler fileds a Votto grounder. Redlegs 0, Royals 0
* Top 2: Diving catch by Brandon Phillips robs his counterpart, Alberto Callaspo, snagging his liner to Phillips' left. Really nice play. 6-up, 6-down for Bronson. Redlegs 0, Royals 0
* Bottom 2: Phillips flies out to the track in center. Rolen doubles to left center. Bruce grounds out to first, Rolen moves to third. Dickerson lines out. And it's Chapman time. Redlegs 0, Royals 0
* Top 3: The first batter Chapman faces, Brayan Pena, another Cuban. And he rips a single on a 2-0 pitch to left. Now a different Islander (and different Island) Kila Ka'aihue. Fielder's choice SS to 2B. Ka'aihue is cuaght stealing on a 3-1 pitch. Anderson walks. Chapman strikes out. 15 pitches, 8 strikes, 7 balls. Redlegs 0, Royals 0
* Bottom 3: Kyle Farnsworth in for the Royals. Ramon Hernandez jumped on Farnsworth's first pitch and it's way foul, but it's 400 feet foul.I can't believe the Royals are trying Farnsworth as a starter. I guess it's better than just releasing him. Actually, it's probably not. Hernandez walks. Jonny Gomes also all over the first pitch, the netting behind the dugout saves someone's life. And again. Gomes is a bit early on Farnsworth. Stubbs takes Farnsworth deep. And I thought he couldn't hit homers of minor leaguers. He put it above the Reds' dugout. Cabrera strikes out. Votto walks. Stolen base for Votto. Not even a throw. Phillips pops up. Redlegs 2, Royals 0
* Top 4: Chapman Ks Getz looking. He blew one by for strike 2, then a slider, I think, to get Getz looking. Ankiel Ks.
* Bottom 5: Went to talk to Chapman. While there, heard one scout had him at
Oh, and it's 5-3. 2-run homer by Josh Fields, and a solo shot by Kila Ka'aihue of Nick Masset.
Dickerson gets another RBI, this one on a single follwoing a Jay Bruce 2-out double. It's 6-3. Corky Miller walks. Three-run bomb by Gomes into the Royals bullpen.
* Top 7: Went to the Royals clubhouse. Let's just say they were impressed. It's now 12-3 for the Reds. Redlegs 12, Royals 3
* Bottom 7: 2-run bomb by Danny Dorn. Redlegs 14, Royals 3
* Top 8: Micah Owings in. He gives up back-to-back singles to start the inning. Then he gets a strikeout for his first out. And Buck Coats is on deck. And no Buck Coats as Meija grounds into a double play. Redlegs 14, Royals 3
* Bottom 8: Reds go 1-2-3, and Pedro Viola will close it out. I'm headed to the field.
FINAL -- Reds 14, Royals 5
