Red Letter Daze is in the process of transitioning to a new home, www.RedsOctober.com. For now, our game thread starters will appear at both sites, just to make sure everyone is aware of the move. We encourage you to come over to www.RedsOctober.com, sign up with your regular screen name, and start posting! You'll find further instructions on the new site. For now, it's basic (and FAST), but we'll have lots of bells and whistles soon. We'll monitor things here at CNati during the transition and will be available to answer questions on both sites. Email any of your friendly moderators (and super tech guy RedFaced) for help as well. Oh, and GO REDS!!

How the Reds got here: The Reds come home for a quick (and crazy scheduling quirk) 3 game series before heading back on the road. They were 4-2 on their recently completed road trip and are 8-5 since the All-Star break. The Reds also find themselves 13-11 for the month of July needing to win at least one of the next two games to guarantee another winning month.
Reds looking for payback: Way back in mid-May the Reds lost two heartbreak games in Atlanta, both in walk-off fashion. They gave up 7 runs in the 9th inning of game two which ended in a walk-off grand slam by Brooks Conrad (who?). That series marked the turning point in the season for the Braves who now find themselves in first place in the NL East. The Reds would like to reverse that momentum now by winning the series and building on their own ½ game lead in the NL Central.
Today's Game - Atlanta sends Kris Medlen RHP to the mound tonight. He's 6-2 with a 3.57 ERA on the season but he's only won once in July and gave up 5 runs in 6 IP last Saturday against the Marlins. However, Atlanta is 11-1 in games in which Medlen starts. Atlanta has lost each of their last two series on the road. They dropped 2 of 3 recently against Washington and 2 of 3 against the Marlins. Let's hope they at least continue that trend this series.
The Reds send Johnny Cueto to the mound today having gone 4-1 with a 0.96 ERA over his past 7 games. He threw 122 pitches during his last outing but has the benefit of an extra days rest after yesterday's off day. Cueto has been one of the few things hotter than the temperature in July, look for it to continue tonight with a large home crowd behind him. I should point out that Cueto could match his career high with his 11th win tonight of the season.
Attendance Tipping Point : The Reds attendance figures for the season entering tonight's game is currently about 39,000 off of last year's pace through the same number of games. With near sell-outs expected for each of the 3 games against Atlanta it seems very likely that the Reds will see their attendance figures for 2010 finally push ahead of the 2009 attendance figures. As a result they should easily crush last year's attendance figure of 1.747 Million. Last season the Reds only had one game from this point forward in which they drew 30,000 in attendance and only 3 games of 25,000 or more in attendance. They will likely avg 25,000 plus this year the rest of the way. Doing so would put them on track for 2 Million in attendance on the season.
RedsOctober.com A New Hope- Welcome to the new home of our old RLD band. The issues at CNati.com kind of forced us to look at other options. The system you see in place today is really a temporary home for us as we will be having a custom application written for us that will serve our particular needs and wants. We understand this current system falls well short of the features we'd like to see available to us so please bear with us during the transition. It might take a couple of months for the new system to get completed but it's in the works and we'd really like to hear your feedback as to what features/functions you would like to see in that new system. There is a thread named "Suggestion Box" that can be found in the Admin Messages Category in which you can post your feature requests. Our hope is to put together a system that is not only feature rich but easy to use and responsive. Once it's complete we should be there a long time so get your feedback in now please.

Redfaced - Thanks for new site, along with today's thread starter. Yeoman's work!
Great to see the games on Saturday and Sunday are sold out. Let's hope the attendance continues to spike for the rest of the season.
Btw, is today's thread going to be posted at RedsOctober.com? I just posted a comment on the threadstarters thread, and it's lightning quick.
Redfaced-- You're the man.....awesome work here and at the new site.
How do we log in at the new site, I used my old sign in and password and it did not work. I saw the instructions for the avatar but nothing under sign up. Yeah I know, belly aching already, that is how us old farts are, no patience.
That info will be posted soon. You don't have to sign in to post, howver--just type in the squiggly words below the post will let you post go through (once you signin, that disappears)
and RedFaced just let me know that he has turned off the feature that requires that. Just follow the instructions for the avatar to get your beady eyes to show up
I figured out the posting thing but there may be a lot of posts over there trying to get avatar to work..Can't wait for Elvis to show up.
even if you don't get your avatar to work, you still will show up with a standin avatar, so don't let that keep you from posting
Everything is under control ....that site is super fast...awesome!!
Hey gang, been outside doing yard work all day.
Good to see everything off and running. I won't do anything with the new site until my daughter gets in later this evening--so as not to mess it up before it even get started.
Excited about the new site as much as everyone else, but since I am a little slow, will take me awhile. Old dogs, new tricks syndrome.
Want to extend all my thanks to the entire gang for getting us off and running on a new site--especially RedFace--even if he bleeds UK blue, and not Mountaineer blue/gold. We will just have to tolerate each other a little longer.
Love the name of the new site. Looking as if the name might be meaningful for years to come when we look up and down the organization --exciting.
Talk to you later.
Hey, Gene--you can click on the link in the starter and check the site out. It's really easy to use--our threads are listed on the right hand side of the page. You don't have to register to read or post (although if you are not signed in you will have to type the squiggly words each time you post--an antispam feature). I think you will like it--it is REALLY fast getting posts up. Just have to refresh to see new ones (F5 or the refresh icon in your toolbar)
