Bearcats football schedule released

The Big East released the 2010 football schedule on Wednesday and the back-to-back conference champion Cincinnati Bearcats will represent the league on national television five times.

The season will end the same way it did last year with UC playing Pittsburgh, this time at Nippert Stadium on Dec. 4.

UC, in its first year under new coach Butch Jones, also will play three times in non-traditional time slots. They will play at N.C. State on Thursday, Sept. 16, as previously announced, then play on consecutive Friday nights in October at Louisville (Oct. 15) and home against South Florida (Oct. 22).

UConn, USF and UC lead the way in the Big East with most games currently slated for national television with five apiece.

The entire Bearcats schedule can be seen here.

"Our schedule presents many great challenges and opportunities for our football program," Jones said. "Having the ability to play a tradition-rich program like Oklahoma in front of our fans at Paul Brown Stadium is a great opportunity as well as playing in some very challenging venues not only in Big East play, but also at Fresno State and NC State. We are looking forward to taking the next step in developing our football identity for the 2010 season on March 17 when spring football starts."

An advantageous bye week was placed midseason before UC plays arguably its most difficult conference games of the season at West Virginia.

The schedule continues a trend of national television appearances with games against N.C. State, Louisville, South Florida, UConn and Pittsburgh all on the ESPN family of networks.

More TV appearances could be announced going forward.
