Cincinnati Reds

Reds at Cubs 9.11-9.13

So, what streak you want? The Reds have dropped their last four games, but have won their last eight against NL Central opponents. According to Elias Sports Bureau, the club record is nine, accomplished five times. The last time the Reds won nine straight games against division opponents was 1995.

Neither team is headed to the playoffs, and oddly enough, Cub fan will blame both managers -- Dusty Baker and Lou Pinella -- for this.

All three games will be played in the daylight.

Friday at 2:20: Justin Lehr (4-1, 4.13) vs. Rich Hardin (9-8, 4.10)
Saturday at 1:05: Johnny Cueto (9-10, 4.39) vs. Randy Wells (10-8, 2.84)
Sunday at 2:20: Homer Bailey (5-4, 5.60) vs. Ted Lilly (11-8, 3.17)

* Dusty Baker is looking for his 1,300 win as a manager today.

* The magic number for the Reds to be officially eliminated from the NL Central race is 2 and the Wild Card magic number is 5.

* The Reds start the day 20.5 behind the Cardinals, the furthest they've been out this season.

* Reds right hander Micah Owings flew to Chicago on Thursday and will work out with the team before today's game.

 * Fancisco Cordero has 244 career saves and is in a tie with Dan Quisenberry for 28th on the all-time list.

* Louisville beat Durham 5-2 in the second game of the International League semifinal, evening the series at 1-1. Chris Valaika was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.

Jay Bruce did not play because of a mild groin strain and is considered day-to-day.

Game 3 is tonight at 7:05 in Louisville with Sam LeCure (10-8, 4.46) getting the start for the Bats.
