Reds announce spring roster

The Reds will invite former top draft picks Mike Leake and Devin Mesoraco will report to major league camp when pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 18, the team announced on Thursday.

Reds pitchers and catchers will report on that day and workout on the same day at the Reds' new Player Development Complex in Goodyear, Ariz..

Among the other non-roster invitees to major league camp are pitchers Justin Lehr and Alexander Smit, catchers Wilkin Castillo, Corky Miller, Chris Denove and Brandon Yarbrough.

Reds position players will report Feb. 23 and will work out that same day, following physicals. Non-roster invitees to big league camp are infielders Chris Burke, Zack Cozart and Todd Frazier, and outfielders Josh Anderson and Laynce Nix.

The Reds are scheduled to begin camp with 53 players, the fewest they've had since 51 in 1998. Last season the team invited 63 players to big league camp.

The coaching staff will check in on Feb. 16.
