(Updates with Mercier's first game stats)

Forward Justin Mercier was called up by the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday for his first stint in the NHL. Mercier, who recorded 104 points at Miami and graduated in 2009, had no goals and one assist in 24 games for Lake Erie of the AHL.

Mercier played his first game on Wednesday against the Minnesota Wild, and logged just over four minutes, including 32 seconds on the power play, and recorded one hit and no points.

Also, forward Ryan Jones was recalled by Nashville on Dec. 3, and played three games for the Predators without recording a point. Jones spent 14 games with Milwaukee of the AHL.

NHL: Defenseman Andy Greene continues to have a breakout season, dishing for three more assists in four games for the New Jersey Devils. This is Greene's fourth season in the NHL, and his 15 points this season are already a career best.

AHL: Defenseman Alec Martinez scored three goals in four games for Manchester.

Martinez, who did not have a goal this season prior to last week, was slowed by a sprained ankle after making his debut with the Los Angeles Kings.

ECHL: Defenseman Mitch Ganzak finished with two assists in four games for Wheeling, giving him three goals and 14 helpers on the season.

Defenseman Ray Eichenlaub returned to the Bakersfield lineup after a prolonged absence. He played two games and did not record a point.

CHL: Forward Nino Musitelli scored his fourth goal and added two assists in two games for Allen. He has 19 points in 20 games playing with former Miami teammates forward Bill Loupee and goaltender Charlie Effinger.

Europe: It's safe to say forward Marty Guerin has found his scoring touch.

Guerin netted five goals and dished for an assist in three games for his Pontebba, Italy team. He scored twice at Valpellice, two more goals at Bolzano and added a goal and an assist against Cortina.

Guerin played in the ECHL his first two pro seasons after graduating from Miami in 2007. He did not score in his first seven games overseas, but he recorded three straight two-goal games, and has 11 goals and three assists in his last nine games.
