Defenseman Alec Martinez finally returned to action this week, and while he wasn't in the NHL, Martinez recorded a pair of assists for the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.

Martinez played the first game of the season for the Los Angeles Kings, but he suffered an ankle sprain and had not played at any level since.

NHL: Defenseman Dan Boyle notched his 21st point in 25 games this week, and is currently on pace to break his career single-season points record.

Boyle's best season was 2006-07 with the Tampa Bay Lightning, when he notched 63 points. With four goals and 17 assists in 21 games, Boyle is on pace for 69 points this season.

AHL: Forward Ryan Jones was off to a painfully slow start this season, going scoreless in eight games with Nashville before being demoted to Milwaukee, where he recorded one point in eight games.

But Jones had a pair of goals and an assist in three games last week.

Also excelling in Triple-A was forward Mike Glumac, who netted his fourth goal of the season and dished for three assists in four games.

ECHL: Defenseman Mitch Ganzak was scoreless when he was loaned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL for one game, but he scored two goals at Elmira on Nov. 21 upon his return.

Forward Ernie Hartlieb dished for three assists in three games, giving him 12 points for Florida.

CHL: Forward Nino Musitelli scored one and added three assists in three games for Allen (Tex.).

Goaltender Charlie Effinger recorded his fourth win in six games for Allen.

Europe: Forward Pat Leahy tallied four more assists for Linz as he took the outright scoring lead among RedHawks playing overseas.

Forward Mike Kompon had a goal and three assists in two games for Munich, and forward Marty Guerin notched two goals and dished for an assist in two games.

Here are the stats for all former Miamians playing professional hockey:
