SAVANNAH, GA -- Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day, and in tribute to CNati and the Reds, I busted out my favorite Reds gear, a green spring training shirt from '06. I love looking at the confused faces staring back at a big green Reds logo. "Aren't their colors, um... red?"
* I'm guessing most of you probably had to work yesterday; but here in Savannah, the whole town shuts down for a big party. Ah, to be young. We were home by 3:00, just after the parade ended, and we didn't leave the house again for the rest of the day.
* If you're a victim of Chapmania(TM) and want to digest every piece of news written on the promising pitcher, here's an RSS feed that will keep you sated.* It's March Madness - and time to prepare your brackets... for the Greatest Living American Abstract Painter Tournament. I'm going with Cy Twombly; but he's got a tough first round against Augusta GA's Jasper Johns.
* President Obama picked Kansas to win over Kentucky in the final.
* Fresh Pots is a short film about Dave Grohl's coffee addiction created by his Them Crooked Vultures bandmates. His cigar box guitar is pretty sweet.
* There's a new website for foodies to get their recipe fix. Kitchen Daily is the latest venture in the crowded recipe-sharing space from AOL, former staff members of Gourmet Magazine and a team of celebrity chefs.
* Kool Keith has a video for "The Dick Towel" (probably NSFW unless you have a really cool job). It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is my favorite TV comedy of the past few years. They never fail to be both inappropriate and hilarious. It's a hard thing to do without turning people off.
* Here's something I can't wait to try: How to make crunchy home made potato chips in your microwave.
* And, if you're super crafty, a Death Star watermelon.
* To close, a couple of quick notes about CNati.com.
- Our site traffic has exploded since spring training started and the past week has shown our largest number of visitors since the site launched in August.
- Our iPhone app sales have exceeded our expectations in the first 30 days of availability and the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. A free update to the app will be released by the end of March.
- In April, we'll begin work on both a native iPad app and making some small changes to the Cnati.com website. This includes moving our mobile website out of beta, reorganizing some of our content and making our featured stories and recent blog posts easier to find.
Thank you for reading and supporting Cnati.com. Good things are ahead and we're glad to have you along for the ride.

Some of the best Reds spring training coverage ever this year--not only is Trent at Cnati setting the standard, he's made the rest of the beat reporters try to match his on the spot coverage. He's working like a dog out there (except that I think most dogs don't put in as many hours per day)
Why would they do that to a watermelon? That project is better suited to a cantaloupe or a honeydew-they are round, you know. Although I once saw a Y-Wing fighter made out of pumpkins. And I hadn't had one beer yet.
CTR is doing what he does best, which is why I wonder what Clear Channel was thinking... and the Post. There are other writers of sports that are one tenth as good.
Kansas over UK? No, no, no. This is my all-orange final. Syracuse or Texas vs. Tennessee. They'll move the final to Minute Maid Park or Tropicana Field.
By the way, CTR...I changed my nickname.
C-Notes---I've got a link for you...this is a custom guitar maker that has many Mustangs and Pre-CBS/Mexico/Japan/Korea Strats. You know, the ones George and Leo made:

That final he picked is a bunch of Liberal BS. lol just kidding, I have Kansas in, but no UK. I just have a feeling they'll see an early exit, probably not, but that's how I feel.
Love the Chapmania References.
I've heard Savannah on St. Patrick's Day is a site to be seen. I have never been there myself, but would like to check it out sometime.
@Jabberwocky - thanks for the link! I just had a '65 Mustang restored. It's an amazing guitar once you put some work into it.
@btalbert25 - I have no business making a college basketball prediction; but I'm going with Kentucky. That whole represent SEC thing has been beaten into me since birth.
St. Patrick's Day in Savannah is a lot of fun if you're young and/or single. They have plenty of family friendly St. Pat's festivals and events; but for the big show, you need to be down for whatever.
@btalbert25 - if you ever make it to SAV for St. Pat's (and I recommend it!), be sure to stick around for a few days because the Savannah Music Festival follows right on its heels. Fun times!
@Ginger-I'm going to have to remember that the next time I visit the 'rents on St. Simons Island. I've always heard Savannah is a beautiful place.
@Lee-I was given a strat body (I do not know the maker-probably Warmouth) and I am building it from scratch. I was looking at an EVH kit through Ed Roman's site, as well. He uses real Floyds and Seymour 59s. The Jazzmasters and Mustangs are excellent guitars (great balance), but you are correct-a little tweaking is necessary.
@Lee, I totally understand UK making it far, and not picking against them because they are SEC, I just think they have had a problem letting teams hang around this year, and that's bad for the tourney. That said, tonight they looked very good.
@Ginger, I've always wanted to go to Savannah, maybe I'll have to make plans next year to check out St Patty's day and the music festival.
CNATI rocks, thanks for the excellent and timely coverage and your hard work, it really shows !!!
