I don't know if you noticed, but we've got a new tab up at the top -- for our CNati shop.

Added is our new "Don't blame me -- I voted for Barry Larkin" shirt. We've also got the Great 8 and Nasty Boys design with more to come.

* Big League Stew wraps up Reds bloggers.

* I hear Reds fans complain all the time that the team will "only" have a team payroll of $70-75 MM -- that could be twice of what the Pirates' payroll will be.

* The Cubs are talking to Jonny Gomes.

* The Hardball Times has its list of the Reds' Top 10 prospects. I do find it odd that videos from YouTube factor so highly (not to mention "an immature vibe" gleamed off said videos) for the writer. But hey, everyone loves a list. The problem with Chapman is there are just so many unknowns right now (besides the fact he's a rich, rich man)

* Bryant Gumbel accused Jeff Bagwell, Ivan Rodriguez and Nomar Garciaparra of using steroids on HBO's Real Sports.

* I may have to try to get down to Bowling Green, Ky., this year for a Hot Rods game -- I especially want the Cave Shrimp Bobbletail. I'll skip Hootie-palooza, though. Last year I made to make sure I made Ricky Vaughn bobblehead night in Cleveland. I think another promo roadtrip is due.

* Prince wrote a song for the Vikings. If it weren't for Favre, I wouldn't mind cheering for the Vikes -- but, well, there's Favre. If they win, you just know Favre is going to "retire on top" and then unretire again.

* Is it really mock draft time again? I had one the other day mentioned and another I noticed yesterday -- Mel Kiper Jr. (Insider link) has the Bengals taking Florida TE Aaron Hernandez with the 21st pick, passing up Taylor Mays and taking Hernandez over Oklahoma TE Jermaine Gresham.

* If it's too early for 2010 draft talk, it'd definitely too early for 2011 draft talk. But, what else does Mel Kiper have to do? He has UC's Armon Binns as the No. 2 receiver on his position-by-position list of the 2011 prospects (another Insider link).

My favorite Kiper-ism reading through this is when he says "as I predicted" when a player moves up -- of course it went as he predicted, he's the one making the list.

* John Thornton makes the case for trading that No. 1 for Brandon Marshall.

* Chad's latest Tweet made me laugh: "So many georgia peaches and only two hands, one mouth, heart and _ dudes that live here permanently I don't know how u do it-but I salute u"

* There are few teams I am an unabashed fan of, but one of them is the U.S. Men's National Team -- and I'm really bummed about Clint Dempsey's injury. Here's a look at what it could mean. The U.S. could have had its best shot at getting far in the World Cup, but injuries have really taken a toll. Dempsey may be able to return, but it's doubtful he'll be in top form.

* Little surprise that the UC-Pitt game is Brian Bennett's pick for best Big East game of 2009.

* ESPN's Ivan Maisel has Ohio State as the No. 5 program of the decade. That sounds about right to me -- although I think you could argue they belong anywhere from 3-5.

* Lane Kiffin's mom says "blogs are terrible."

* The New Republic looks at Tim Tebow's decision to appear in a Right for Life commercial to be shown at the Super Bowl. Regardless of what I believe, I do respect Tebow for standing up for what he believes in and making what a decision that could hurt his marketability in the future. Tebow and I probably see things very differently, but I think it's refreshing to see someone to think about their public statements and go with their heart and beliefs rather than their wallet. Kudos to Tim Tebow.

(That story links to this story criticizing Notre Dame for hiring a liberal, that liberally takes quotes I think only I had -- and put on YouTube -- without any credit. Oh well. It's not illegal, just a tad disappointing, I didn't see those comments anywhere else, but I could be wrong.)

* ESPN's ombudsman admits the networks' coverage of the Adam James/Craig James/Mike Leach/Texas Tech deal was more biased than balanced.

* But at least nobody put their hand down Mike Leach's pants, so kudos ESPN!

* I saw this in Paul's High-5, Low-5 yesterday, but thought it was a great read for those of you who somehow missed Paul's daily afternoon delight. Anyway, it's what we in the biz call a "folo" and it's a good one on Kansas State coach Frank Martin and the Wildcats' big win over No. 1 Texas.

* With her team trailing Tennessee by a point with 1:07 left, Brandon Phillips' little sister, Porsha, scored the final four points to lead the No. 8 Lady Dogs to a 53-50 victory over the No. 3 Lady Vols.

* Somehow it seems odd to me that South Carolina should worry about using "SC" on their baseball caps. But Southern Cal has claimed they trademarked the combination of the two letters and a judge agrees .

* Online tests for Jeopardy! are coming.

* Kids are stupid. Anytime someone asks me for career advice (and, oddly, it happens) it's always an easy answer: "don't." As in don't get into journalism. It's a sinking ship. I feel like a buggy maker watching Model Ts roll off the factory line. I might as well majored in dinosaur wrangling.

* Speaking of stupid, a David Hasselhoff reality show.

* And when you didn't think the world could get even dumber, spend some time on ugliesttattoos.com (much of it is NSFW)

* The Enquirer's John
Kiesewetter on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives' impending Cincinnati visit.
We know they're going to hit Terry's Turf Club, where else would you suggest? I'm sure they'll go to a chili parlor -- I'd guess maybe Camp Washington Chili?

* Check out what happens when you remove the laugh track from a show. Really weird timing.

* I was disappointed that after all the time off, The Office was a clip show last night, but I've got to say, I loved the clips. The DLP hasn't seen every episode three times like I have, so she didn't get all the references and I was waiting and pointing. And an entire Creed montage made me happy. It's tough to beat Creed. Also, as bad as Community was in the beginning, it's really gotten good as it has found its voice -- much like Parks and Recreation is great in its second season after a boring first season.

* I'm curious about the Runaways movie. And the new John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill movie looks interesting.

* Booooo! Franz Nicolay is leaving The Hold Steady.

Completely agree about "The Office" clips show. But it was LOL hilarious and very close since we've been watching the DVDs again, from Season 1 forward, since Thanksgiving.

This has been a terrible network TV season and after yet another weak "30 Rock," last night, we figure it's time to DVR some stuff off cable shows to save and watch during the network slots.

I don't get where people complain about the Red's payroll. Most of them won't attend a game all year either. Not that one ticket makes a difference, but the only way to get a higher payroll is to get more revenue. Last years team wasn't the best in the league, but they were fun to watch. They played entertaining baseball. Some of the best games I've been too were last year

A similar market team like St. Louis has great attendance and last year they spent 15-17 million more than the Reds. I know they have a good product, but will attendance here change if the Red's are 2 games back in September? I dont' believe it will.

I saw the ESPN article about Ohio State being number 5 program of the decade and also agree with you. It's about right, but they could've been as high as 3. The top 2 are a no brainer to me.

I don't see TCU as the 10th best program of the decade. I think Miami both would have a more valid clame there. Maybe even West Virginia.

I also thought Jim Tressel could've been the number 4 coach instead of number 6. The other guys get praised and they just talk about Tressel bringing antique style, but hey at least he's 8-1 against Michigan. He's antique style has done pretty well if you ask me, he may not get style points for playing Pryor, Troy Smith, or Beanie wells when the team was up by 50 like Meyer, Brown, and Stoops all do, but I definitely think I'd put him over Stoops and Brown.

Diner's Drive in's and Dive's should visit Europa in Maintsrasse Covington. Try it they have awesome sandwiches and Gelato.

I was thinking Triple D should visit Camp Wasington or Price Hill Chilli. And a true Dive, would be a stop at Anchor Grill for some goetta and cheese omelettes.

If Dempsey needed surgery, obviously I'd be worried.

But no surgery? At most he'll be out three months which brings him back sometime in April (and really, its not like he's just going to sit on the couch until he comes back), which would make it almost two months to get back in game shape before the World Cup.

I'm not soccer fan at all, but I do find the world cup intriguing. I love seeing a Eurpoean power like France get beat by a nation like Senegal who they once colonized. They may not have been able to match them Economically or militarily, but by God in soccer they got them. I knew a guy who is in Dakar the day Senegal beat France, and it may not have been a world cup match, but international play of some sort. He said the whole town, roughly 7 million people all started jumping and yelling at the same time. He said it was the most incredible thing he's every witnessed.

For reasons like this, I don't mind seeing the US not be a soccer powerhouse. I know it may sound stupid, but there's no one on earth if we beat the whole country would be beaming with pride like we did with the Miracle on Ice. I can't imagine it would be the same if Iraq soccer beat us.

That said, I still would rather have the US win the world cup the England/Italy/France/Germany etc.

A few things.
That THS news is disappointing. I've watched DBT go through a few line ups and I pretty much always hate to see the person leaving leave.

As for the dinosaur wrangling, you could have had a job at the creation museum, that dino park in Dubai or this could have been you:
