I'm sure it'll be the media's fault that Cedric Benson isn't happy about sharing carries -- or at least that's what we'll be told today.

But hey -- why should he be happy about it? Cedric Benson has played well and been the good soldier.

And on the other side, why should Lewis and the Bengals coaches care? Benson's paid well to do what he does and if his role changes, his contract doesn't. This is the NFL, you've got to step up when there's competition. You want more carries? Be better than the other guy. Pretty simple.

* This is a really good interview with the Bengals' Evan Mathis. This website seems to really like the Bengals' guards, Mathis and Bobbie Williams

* Dhani Jones has a photography exhibit opening on Dec. 11.

* So, what if Nebraska beats Texas? It's UC or TCU in the title game against the SEC champ, right? Well, maybe not.

* How bad is
the ACC? I know everyone likes to pick on the Big East, but since the raid, has the ACC ever been any better? Yes, their champ beat the Big East champ last year in the Orange Bowl, but I don't think too many ACC fans will want to base their answer on BCS bowl results.

The bottom line is the ACC championship game is this weekend and it features teams that lost to middle of the road SEC teams. The ACC champs wouldn't be in the top half of the SEC East.

* Did you see the end of the USC-UCLA game? Awesome. I'm on the side of Pete Carroll on this one.

* I had a new favorite helmet this weekend -- Mizzou's alternate with the flat black and shiny black. I loved this one. Oregon did something similar this season and I really liked it, but it was Oregon, and you know, it's almost as if anything they do is expected and not as cool. I also liked LSU's gold helmets.

* FanGraphs mentions something I was hammering at the end of the season -- the Reds defense was really good.

* I mentioned this recently, but Big League Stew is doing a great serious on advanced stats -- this one is on OPS+, not my favorite (because I still don't like OPS all that much, just because, well, read the article), but it's a good basic stat.

* A Hall of Fame voter says he's changed his mind about Mark McGwire. I'm not a Hall of Fame voter, but I understand where he's coming from and may agree with him. It turns into a guessing game about who cheated and who didn't.

* I thought this was a really cool story on athletes and their troubles with the housing market.

* The New Yorker goes undercover with a Michelin inspector.

* Craig Finn of the Hold Steady says he's done with the screenplay of Fargo Rock City : A Heavy Metal Odyssey in Rural North Dakota

* Morrissey on Desert Island Discs.

I really thought the ACC would be strong this year, but they have turned out to be bad, and I agree, they have never been great since they raided the Big East. Certainly not like the Big East in basketball after they killed conference USA.

I will say though, for all the crap they take in the media, how about the Big 10 having 3 teams in the top 11 of the BCS standings. Add to it a pretty strong Wisconsin team with Northwestern who has played very well the last 4 weeks or so and the top 5 of the Big 10 aren't all that bad this year.

I never saw Gerhart play this year, but after Saturday night I think there is no doubt that man deserves a Heisman. Of course since the award has become a QB of the year for one of the top 3 teams award, I'm thinking Mc Coy will win it.

Is there any question as to whether Benson will really lose that many carries when he comes back and is healthy? The way he produced I just don't see him losing a ton of carries if he keeps producing. That's the biggest thing in my mind. What a problem to have though, which one of my 3 running backs that can put up 100 yards a game do I put in?

I'm not a big Pete Carroll fan, but I'm with him 100% on the Saturday brouhaha. Calling timeout with :54 left was a total douche move by Neuheisel.

I just take a knee again myself. let them keep calling timeouts. There's no need to get into a back and forth. That's just my opinion though. I'll never champion Pete Carol for being a great sport. His teams have been known to throw down field and blitz when they are up 50. Then while they may not call people out, their post game interviews always have an arrogance. Their guys are never political in interviews. I didn't feel bad for USC when Stanford went for 2 when they were up a ton. One good gesture to me isn't a big deal and while it was douche move by Neuheisal I'm sure it was instigated in a previous matchup or by something that was said in the papers leading up to the game.

not knowing the complete game situation but only being down 2 scores with full book of TO's left, i would of staked the box called my TO's to get the ball back, it was only 14pts, crazy things happen, what if thats an incomplete pass now you have 44 sec. two TO left. Block or return a punt or a 1 play TD. now you can attempt an onside... what i do have a problem with is both reactions. UCLA and USC act like you've been there before. great excution no need to chest pound and stare across the field. UCLA no need to run across the field. Bad leadership on both schools and thats a direct refelction of the head coaches.
