A.J. Burnett was masterful -- much better than the umpires -- but still, not to take anything away from him.
* It depends on how this series turns out, but it could help out Don Denkinger. The umpiring has been pretty bad.
* Not that I had much respect for Joe Girardi as a manager, but I lost respect for Derek Jeter for not going to the dugout and hitting Girardi's idiot head off his body like it was a ball on a tee.
* A closer look at Cliff Lee's masterpiece. It only magnifies the Lee-Sizemore-Phillips-Stevens for Colon-Drew trade many moons ago.
* Doug Gray finishes up his Top 40 list or Reds prospects with his Top 10.
* MTV on the Yankees' at-bat music -- that damn Jay-Z song is annoying.
* Hillerich & Bradsby Co. (better known as Louisville Slugger) has been found liable in a teen's death.
* CBS Sports gives Carson Palmer some MVP consideration.
* I've got to say I was a bit disappointed in Chad Ochocinco's Top 10 on Letterman last night.
He was just a bit stiff -- not really Chad-like. He didn't seem to be having fun, and usually Chad is all about having fun. (I liked No. 9 best). But what about that? The Bengals have been replaced by the Lions as the go-to punchline.
* John Thornton and JockBiz have announced a great fundraiser. Check into it. I consider John a friend, but I can tell you, he works his butt off to try to help out in the community. He's really invested and is making Cincinnati his home even in retirement. He's one of those people that's going to make Cincinnati a better place.
* Bruce Feldman of ESPN gives some love to UC defensive coordinator Bob Diaco.
* Kyle Veazey has a really good story on just how instant replay works in college football.
* I love Halloween, but dreading tomorrow, because I think it's gonna be a nasty day in Jacksonville. I'd take the Gators even with the 16 points.
* Smart City looks at Cincinnati and Issue 9.
* There's a new John Lennon biopic coming out.
* David Spade defends the new DircetTV commercial with Chris Farley.
* Violence against women on TV has increased over the last five years.
* TV Guide talks to the ousted Top Chef contestant -- I was surprised, but I still think it comes down to Michael and Kevin. I think they're trying to turn Michael into the new bad guy -- or he's just an ass. I hate the "I could've done that" sore loser crap -- you coulda, but you didn't.
* I know I seem to link several things about how new journalism entities are trying to monetize their efforts, but it's been on my mind a lot, you know? Anyway, McSweeney's is asking readers for donations for a specific article. Very interesting. I've thought about doing something similar for spring training. I want to be at spring training every day, but it'll take some money to do so. Hopefully some folks will be willing to pitch in. Trust me, I'm working hard on all this.

For some funny reason, I don't think Florida is going to throttle Georgia. They have struggled against a couple of teams that weren't great the last couple of weeks. I think they have a shot. Especially, if Tebow keeps throwing touchdowns to the other team.
This world series has been great. I love great pitching and the first 2 games have had a lot of it. Cole Hammels kind of scares me for the Phillies, but I guess Andy Pettite isn't quite the pitcher he used to be either.
I definitely believe Palmer should get love for MVP. The man has been so clutch this year. Where would this team be without him under center. 4-10-1 probably.
Opps, 4-11-1
All of Cincinnati is pulling for GA. Hopefully the fighting Tebow's fall off their horse all though i still think a 1 loss Gator gets in a head of unbeaten UC team...
I just can't believe Tebow is still top 5 for Heisman. I know his team keeps winning but his stats aren't that great this year. In fact, his stats have gone downhill since his sophomore year. Looks to me like Percy Harvin should've been a finalist instead of Tebow last year. I'd like to see Georgia win that game.
I'm also pulling for Oregon . Does Oregon's continued success push Boise State to one of the top spots though, or does Oregon leapfrog them in the BCS down the road?
A lot of interesting scenarios are about to play out. We are stuck with the BCS, but this season could be the beginning of it's unravelling. This season we may have 6 undefeateds with TCU, Boise, UC, Florida or Bama, Texas, and Iowa. Not to mention some really strong one loss teams in Florida or Bama, USC or Oregon, Penn State, and Pitt or UC or WVA. I guess everyone could lose and we end up with 2 undefeateds and a cluster of 1 loss teams too. I hope for the first option. It would really put pressure on college football to come up with something.
So, you want to to raise funds for spring training, eh? What's in it for us. . . besides pretty words? Do we get to tell you when to sit on a cactus needle or to grab that rattlesnake?
I'm all for raising funds but the investors need some fun and interactivity in return.
Hey, is that a scorpion?
Just read the Top 10 list - it's great that our # 1 prospect is Alonso, but our best player on the 25 man roster is a first baseman. We are in dire need of a shortstop and a left fielder - Gomes/Dickerson might work, but I'm not sold. And, Jay Bruce needs to flat out get better at the plate. I'm really not feeling the love from this team...yet. Jocketty. Magic. Happen.
I agree with the guy with the stitched head (above.) We could be persuaded. Sort of like a scholarship fund. But we'd demand entertainment value as well as journalism. Ever hunted a chupacabra?
Based on raising some funds, I can see "C Trent goes to Zona" sponsored by the new Ford Transit Connect (the mini cargo) - any connections at any Ford dealers here locally that would go for that - Castrucci, Nolan?
