Sorry this is a bit late today -- had a migraine last night, took a couple of pills and was out for the count -- saw enough of the Dodgers-Phillies to know what was going to happen and was snoring before Top Chef. So no spoilers.

And then, well, it's amazing how you can sleep with three dogs jumping on you, but I guess drugs help. A lot. Viva drugs! (In all fairness, only two of the dogs jumped on me, the other tried to snuggle, but the other two got in the way.)

* Also, we have another addition to the CNATI family in the form of a new blogger with a more national scope, but still based in Ohio -- Justice Hill is writing Justice Is Served. Check it out. Justice will share his opinions, you may or may not agree, but it'll certainly get you thinking -- which is one of my favorite things about reading different writers. I'd rather think and disagree than just nod my head in agreement when I read. And the best is when someone can get me to think differently -- or even change my mind.

* Apparently T.J. Houshmandzadeh is having buyer's remorse and said the Bengals' offer wasn't far form what the Seahawks gave him. Is it possible the Bengals are better without him? Is it an attitude thing? T.J. was respected in the locker room, but I don't think Marvin misses him. Laveranues Coles hasn't produced on the field, so I'm not sure the money saved on T.J. was used well, but was it overall a positive?

* My guess would be the Bengals offered Chris Henry and a No. 2 for Martellus Bennett -- and that's just a guess.

* Is Bears running back Matt Forte underachieving? I'm sure Bengal fans would like to see another week of that underachieving.

* Did you watch the ESPN documentary "Who Killed the USFL?" -- I did and so did Donald Trump. I thought it was interesting, but scattered and lacked focus. It went on more about the league than the title question. Still, it was an entertaining hour and I'd recommend it.

* The SEC suspended the officiating crew from the Florida-Arkansas and the UGA-LSU games. It's bigger than that to me, it's worse than one crew. There needs to be full-time officials in the NCAA. With the amount of money in the BCS conferences, there's certainly the cash to do so. The NFL needs to do that as well (and yeah, baseball umpires are full time and they still suck). The head ref, Marc Curles, says he's sick about his call against Arkansas.

* John Feinstein on the BCS (short summary -- he don't like it)

* Red Reporter has a look at Bill James' offensive projections for several Reds for next season and comes to about the same conclusions I believe, for the most part -- you can keep Janish's bat for his glove, as long as he's hitting 8th, Ramon Hernandez isn't worth $8 million more than Ryan Hanigan, Chris Dickerson should be the favorite in CF but injuries are a worry and Drew Stubbs is fine there and Willy Taveras should have a nice time with a big check to get him outta Dodge.

* The Reds are looking for your help with their 1990 World Series exhibit.

* Oh Steve Phillips, I hope you call a fake press conference for this one. (I may be the only person who still remembers his ESPN fake press conference, but it was one of the worst things I've ever seen on TV. My favorite was the look on Buster Olney's face, that he knew he'd sold his soul to the devil.)

* Zack Greinke is a strange dude, but the best pitcher in baseball (at least he was this year)

* Oh crap, looks like computers can write sports stories now, too. First they don't need you to pump gas and now this. Not sure what I'm going to do for the next 30 years.

* NPR looks at the new e-reader from Barnes & Noble. I've not been big on the Kindle and the like -- but people tell me they love them. I haven't used one, so I'm not sure if I would. Seems like the leap of faith we took with iPods. And look at where that turned out.

* Then, of course, what about the rumored Apple tablet? Would it take over some of that niche -- and there's talk of Apple working with comic companies. That would be killer.

* The electric version of the venerable Honda Cub may be coming soon.

It was fairly obvious to me and the former owners and players who killed the USFL. Were you on the migraine meds when you watched the program?

So the SEC must have sensed something may be up with that crew too. Not sure if it was racism or not, but peculiar that they were questionable calls the favored a top 5 team each time.

Apparently, Grenke is an interesting as watching paint dry. It was painful reading his quotes. Good think he is a lights out pitcher.

I used to kind of like the BCS when it first came about, then we had a split national championship and each year it becomes more corrupt and more laughable. There are probably less than 100 people really fighting for it, but they have all the money and power so the system will stay put for a long time to come.

Shame the Bengals couldn't get the Tight End before the trade deadline, they could really use one who isn't affraid to catch a ball.

So, lemme get this straight.....Harold Reynolds gets fired from ESPN over an inappropriate hug, but Steve Phillips get a suspension for committing adultery??? Like Tim Wilson says, it's a sorry world.

Trent, on another subject, I don't know if you've thought about this or if anyone else has mentioned it, but do you think that there's not really a great team in college football this year? I do.

There's a few really good teams, like UF, 'Bama, Texas, maybe USC, UC...but there's no great teams like last year's Florida or Texas. I'm not sure if it's better defense, or defenses have caught up to certain offenses, or if it's the lack of marquee offensive players/performances.

Maybe you can expound on that at a later time, or let me know i'm full of it........even though I know I'm not. :)

I don't know, I thought Bama looks like they are significantly better than just about everyone else. They have beaten some pretty good teams and looked like the exerted 0 effort.
