BATS ARE DIVISION CHAMPS
Even with last night's loss, the Lousville Bats clinched their second consecutive International League West Division championship when Indianapolis defeated Toledo, 12-0...At 77-56, the Bats have the best record in the IL and will play either Durham or Gwinnett in the opening round of the Governor's Cup playoffs on 9/9.
ONE BAT = 17 HITS
In last night's 10-6 win vs Lansing, the Dayton Dragons pounded out 18 hits, 17 of which came off of 1 bat - Josh Fellhauer's...the entire Dragons lineup used Fellhauer's bat until it broke in the 8th inning...the 18 hits marked the second-most Dayton has collected in a game this season and the first time the Dragons scored in double digits since 8/9...it should also be noted that Fellhauer didn't even play in the game. (thanks to Dayton Daily News' Marc Katz for the info).
"QUOTE BOAT"
"We play 142 ballgames, so whether we win it by winning tonight or by them losing tonight, it's still ours. We worked very hard all year to get ourselves in this position, so it will be nice to win back-to-backs." - Louisville manager Rick Sweet prior to the Bats winning their second straight IL West title. (Louisville Courier-Journal)
"Our clubhouse manager said it was the 10th
anniversary of the Angels using one bat to break out of a slump. We picked out
a bat and a back-up bat." - Dayton hitting
coach Tony Jaramillo (Dayton Daily News)
